Last weekend we made the most of the spring weather and took our boys camping in the Norfolk countryside. Looking for something with a bit more comfort than your average tent, we opted to spend two nights in these camping pods on Puddledock Farm in Thetford…
With enough space for two adults and two children, the pods are very cosy and arranged like little beehives over looking a pond. They are equipped with heating, light and electricity (for the necessary kettle and ipod…) while we supplied mattresses, sleeping bags and the usual camping kit.
On the first night we had a picnic outside, looking at the stars, before retiring to the pod and snuggling up to read books by torchlight. The next morning our 4 year old Sam had breakfast outdoors and then a run around the park… before 8am!
We spent the day at woodland adventure park Bewilderwood, where Sam went on the ‘sucker punch’ wall at least fifteen times before we had to peel him off to go home. Despite the cold we couldn’t get the boys to leave, so bribed them with a new adventure and took a boat down the Norfolk broads – several life jackets later and we were on the water with 6 year old William at the helm!
We closed the day with fish and chips by the river and oodles of ice cream before heading back to cosy up in the pod for, in William’s words ‘the warmest and best nights sleep ever!’
