Hampton Court

Today the sun shone! I have a feeling it shouldn’t be such a novelty in June, but hey ho… So rather than go food shopping I opted to take the boys to the now quite-local-actually Hampton Court Palace.   I have been many times over the years but I just fall more in love with it each time. The house is vast, beautiful and dripping in remarkable history, but for a sunny Wednesday afternoon type budget the gardens alone offer a stunning couple of hours wandering, particularly at this time of year.

Rose gardens, knot gardens, little hidey-lovey walled gardens (cheeky), and then the manicured avenues of lawns at the back which can be a football pitch, helipad, race track or whatever else your little ones dream them to be. A fountain, an ice cream seller, a pair of fully brassed shire horses pulling a road train, and a lovely cafe offering ‘Hungry Caterpiller’ picnic boxes – and if you are particularly brave (or have a child with gps) there is the maze. A lovely day.
